Brick Lane

Went to the cinema this morning for the last but one of our local independent cinema's spring season of morning films. It was Brick Lane, which I really enjoyed, really beautiful visually, and I thought the female lead was a stunning actress. Have the book in my 'to be read' pile, but almost don't want to read it now, having enjoyed the film so much. Often find that whichever way round I do this (read book first then see film, or vice versa) that I much prefer the first, for example The Kite Runner, which I saw recently having read the book first - I found that I enjoyed the film less than I'd enjoyed the book.

Cushions

Sold four cushions on eBay last night that I bought to dress South View Cottage (which we recently sold). I had planned to keep them for my spare bedroom, but a year on, I wasn't sure about the colour scheme any more, so decided to get rid of them. They all came from Next and cost me a total of £95, and I sold them for over £72 (less eBay and Paypal costs - luckily I don't have to pay the postage as DH has his own business and puts my post through his franking machine for me), so I was well chuffed!

Horrid Tuesday Afternoons!

Have just remembered why I dislike Tuesday afternoons so much - it's always rush, rush, rush from lunchtimes till we get home from karate.

First I usually meet Annette and we walk from 2 to 3 pm, then I head to Tesco and rush round to get finished in time to get to school to pick Will up at 4, then it's home for 20 mins, unload the shopping and put it away while Will gets changed, back out of the door by 4.45 latest for karate from 5 to 6 pm, then home to more frantic-ness with getting William's supper (usually a sandwich, fruit and crisps on a Tues - luckily he had quite a good hot lunch at school today) and then our dinner.

Stupidly decided to make a rather convoluted Jamie Oliver recipe from my Jamie at Home book to use up some beetroot which came in last week's veg box, as well as a load of carrots, which we also seem to have rather a glut of currently. Pork Chops with roasted veg - currently in oven and smelling delicious. All a bit of a rush, though - stress, stress stress!!

Much easier to have some sort of freezer dinner on a Tues, although we've got that tomorrow, as I'm working and Ashley has a helicopter lesson, so I've got a chilli out of the freezer. Thursday I'm going to do a BBQ chicken recipe I found in a magazine, and Friday is William's school play at 6 pm, so I thought we'd have Mexican nachos afterwards. That's this week's food sorted then.

Haven't managed to complete my 'To Do' list either. Have, however, almost met my 100 page target of my book, due to long wait at karate!

Worn Out!

Cancelled walk with Annette, went straight to treadmill and did a mile, while watching a video podcast of Sky Entertainment News - have four to catch up on currently, so good to get one out of the way. Don't like walking on treadmill, always seems much harder work than being outside - always that feeling of 'shall I just stop now' as well!

Still to do today:

Finish off shopping list
Go to Tesco
Pick Up Will from School
Take Will to Karate
Sort bottom drawer of filing cabinet
Put favourites into a Word doc and save on K drive, in case of computer failure (was behaving oddly this morning)
Sort out orders for summer clothes for Will from Vertbaudet & Next)
Finish off bathroom cleaning (mosaic tiles will have to be done tomorrow)
Get rid of some of the pile of stuff on my desk

Sounds like quite a lot when I write it like that!

My First Post to My Blog!

It's raining outside - quite hard - and due to continue for the rest of today and most of tomorrow according to weather.co.uk. Supposed to be going for a walk with my friend Annette at two, but can't really see it stopping before then. Might go and do half an hour on the treadmill with my ipod on.

My list for the day included cleaning the bathroom, but I wanted to have a good go at the tiles around the bath (little mosaic ones), with the old electric toothbrush to get into all the little grooves, and as soon as I turned it on, the battery went flat. So it's now on charge. I've cleaned the floor and the wall tiles and loo, but I'm guessing the rest'll have to wait to tomorrow.

Also want to read 100 pages of my book (Since I Was A Princess by Jacqueline Pascarl) today -

- had a sneaky half hour back in bed this morning reading after Will went to school so have almost read 20 pages of this target already. Should be able to get through another good portion of it later on while waiting for William at karate.
